Terms for Tutors

We strive to make the Edeely experience as smooth as possible for both tutors and students. First and foremost, this includes complete transparency in everything regarding our policies, rules, and commissions for using our service.

Commissions

Edeely only charges a commission for lessons you've successfully held on the platform. All other services we provide, like public profile hosting, access to the closed community of fellow tutors, and various educational resources, are entirely free of charge.

‍The lesson is considered successfully held only if both tutor and student were present at the lesson or if the student missed the lesson without rescheduling at least 5 hours prior. If the lesson was rescheduled or canceled at least 5 hours before, the commission is not charged until the lesson is actually held.

The commission we charge is then invested into bringing and retaining a constant flow of students from around the globe. A significant portion of it also goes into developing specialized training courses for tutors. You can take part in such courses to perfect your teaching. Lastly, we use the revenue from commission to constantly tune and refine our platform, seeking to ensure that Edeely is surpassing the world standards for online education.

The commission is calculated as a percentage of your hourly rate. The more hours you teach, the less is the percentage. The rates of the commission are shown in the table below. Please note that the total number of completed hours is the overall number of teaching hours you have accumulated on the platform (not hours per student).

0-20 hours – 30%
21-40 hours – 25%
41-150 hours – 20%
151-500 hours – 15%
501+ hours – 10%

Rescheduling and cancelation policy

We know that accidents and other unexpected things can happen at any time. However, if you don't show up or cancel a lesson without notifying your student in a reasonable time, it will negatively affect students' motivation to learn. A reasonable time is considered to be at least 5 hours prior to the scheduled time. In case of multiple reports concerning the tutor's absence from lessons, their profile can be hidden. To avoid such consequences, don’t forget to reach out to your students in advance and reschedule the classes if you can't make it on time.

Harassment policy

Any violation of social norms and rules, including inappropriate behavior, sexual harassment, and fraud, is strictly prohibited and won’t be tolerated on Edeely.

We work hard to make sure tutors never encounter inappropriate behavior or messages from students, but sometimes it can still happen. If you encounter such behavior, do not hesitate to contact our support team via this form.

Additional Edeely policies

Please avoid sharing your personal or contact information in your public profile. In case you violate this rule, we can’t guarantee your safety and ensure you don't encounter doxxing or stalking. If you publish information of that sort, your profile may be hidden until you remove such information. This is done for your safety.
Please avoid sharing your personal or contact information with your students. If you violate this rule, we can’t guarantee your safety from doxxing or stalking.
Please refrain from sharing links to other online tutoring services. Such actions might lead to your profile being hidden or completely blocked.
Please avoid registering two or more profiles on Edeely. Such actions might lead to a complete block of all the profiles you've created.
Misusing any personal information received from a student, such as doxxing or stalking, is strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate ban from the platform and notifying the authorities about the incident.
Violating social norms, harassing students or exhibiting any other form of inappropriate behavior is strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate ban from the platform and notifying the authorities about the incident.
