My name is Rebecca and I have studied European Studies and Modern Languages (french, english and greek). Then, I decided to continue my studies in France where I followed two master's degrees; Negotiations of International Projects and Bilingual translation (french and greek).
My experience as an English teacher is that I used to teach my nephews, from age 6 to 17 years old. During the course, I use lots of strategies in order to make sure that students are able to follow and the lesson is comprehensible and at the same time creative.
What kind of methods do I love to use? I use flashcards to memorize vocabulary and I show videos about topics, students are interested in. In this way, the lesson becomes more vivid and children can “absorb” all this information easily. Moreover, I prepare (simple and difficult) questions in order to improve their oral skills. At the same time, I pay attention and I observe their difficulties. As a teacher, I have to detect these mistakes because it’s really significant to understand a language and speak correctly. That's why I regularly prepare tests whenever I observe something wrong or whenever students have questions about grammar, vocabulary etc. After a couple of lessons, I have conversations in the target language and during our discussion, I suggest solutions which things they should improve. For example, students can watch YouTube videos for pronunciation or they may find extra exercises online for grammar. Besides this, Greek is my native language and I am able to help people learn easily and fast using these strategies.
